Abstract:It is of great significance to clarify the relationship between tutor’s style and postgraduate’s scientific research creativity in order to improve the quality of postgraduate training and the training mechanism. Based on the theories of social exchange, self-determination and social cognition, it constructs a research model with paternalistic mentor style as independent variable, academic passion as intermediary variable, postgraduate scientific research creativity as dependent variable and postgraduate scientific research self-efficacy as moderating variable. The model was tested by regression analysis and Bootstrap test. The results show that the three dimensions of paternalistic mentor style (kindness mentor style, authoritarian mentor style and moral tutor style) have a significant impact on postgraduate’s scientific research creativity and academic passion, and the two dimensions of academic passion are also significantly affecting postgraduate’s scientific research creativity; academic passion is in the influence mechanism of paternalistic tutor style on t postgraduate’s utor scientific research creativity. There is a mediating role, in which the compulsive academic passion completely mediates the positive influence of authoritarian tutor style; the postgraduate research self-efficacy has a significant strengthening effect on the mediating role of academic passion. In the process of postgraduate training, it is of positive significance to shape paternalistic tutor style for improving postgraduate research creativity.
