This research combined the organization boundary theory and enterprise evolution theory, from the perspective of path dependence, defined and measured the construct of enterprise boundary dependence, and analyzed the three important aspects of enterprise boundary dependence including capability boundary dependence, psychological boundary dependence and knowledge boundary dependence. Through the in-depth study of the three companies, this paper explores the existence of boundary-dependent behaviors of companies and reveals the relationship between boundary dependence, absorptive capacity and innovation performance. The results show that capability boundary dependence, psychological boundary dependence and knowledge boundary dependence have an important effect on the improvement of the absorptive capacity of enterprises, which is conducive to the incremental and fundamental innovation of enterprises.
