High-quality development of trade is the key to efficient and high-quality use of domestic and international markets and resources, which can effectively promote the new pattern of double-cycle development and high-quality economic development. Based on China"s provincial data from 2010 to 2020, this paper empirically examines the impact of digital trade on high-quality trade development and its mechanisms. The results show that digital trade can effectively promote the high-quality development of trade, and the impact is moderated by market openness. In addition, from various dimensions of digital trade, there is heterogeneity in its impact on the high-quality development of trade; Secondly, digital trade can promote the high-quality development of trade through upgrading of industrial structure and logistics industry; Third, spatial regression shows that the development of digital trade in one region will have negative spillover effects on the surrounding areas. Further extended analysis shows that digital trade can effectively promote the high-quality development of trade in the eastern and central regions, but it does not significantly promote the development of trade in the western regions. Among the dimensions of digital trade, digital technology plays a significant role in promoting the high-quality development of trade in the central region, and digital industrialization trade plays a significant role in promoting the high-quality development of trade in the eastern and central regions. The research helps clarify the logical relationship and mechanism between digital trade and high-quality trade development, provides theoretical and empirical support for China to promote high-quality trade development from the perspective of developing digital trade, and provides suggestions for policy decisions.
