To promote the application of knowledge management in universities. The functions and characteristics of knowledge management are analyzed in this paper. Based on the author's many years of educational background, the paper breaks down the universities' knowledge management into three parts: teaching, scientific research, and students management, the framework of each knowledge base is summarized. The paper concludes that when implementing knowledge management in universities the idea of openness should be a precondition, and leadership attention as assurance, while attention should also be paid to management of information technology and personnel management, incentive mechanism, and resource construction.
