The theory of planned behavior (TPB) has emerged as one of the most influential and popular conceptual frameworks for the study of human action. In this paper， the evolution process， conceptual framework and connotation of TPB are discussed， also its two applications in family business succession research are reviewed. Finally， we suggest that TPB may be a good fit for studying many of the critical issues facing family businesse succession process.
