Abstract:Abstract: With the impact of digital technologies on rural economic and social development, livestreaming has become a new engine driving rural revitalization and promoting farmers'' prosperity. This paper is based on a survey of 924 households in Sichuan Province and employs 2SLS and LIML methods to study the impact of livestreaming on farmers'' income. The results show that rural livestreaming can effectively increase farmers'' income. Further analysis of income structure reveals that livestreaming boosts farmers'' wage income, property income, and operating income by providing employment, entrepreneurship opportunities, and promoting land transfers. In addition, this paper examines the differential effects of livestream content and the types of livestream participants. In terms of content, e-commerce livestreaming significantly increases farmers'' income, while the effect of cultural and entertainment livestreaming on farmers'' income is relatively limited.Regarding the types of participants, internet celebrities enhance the impact of both e-commerce and cultural livestreams on farmers'' income. Government officials also significantly strengthen the income effect of e-commerce livestreaming, whereas ordinary farmers rely more on their own resources and community networks. As the scale of livestreaming in villages expands, farmers'' income from livestreaming shows an upward trend. Therefore, efforts should be made to strengthen infrastructure support for rural e-commerce livestreaming, promote the integration of livestreaming with local industries, provide differentiated support for various livestream participants, and disseminate successful e-commerce livestreaming models.
